# Adieuu Additional Terms

Version 1.0 — 2026-08-23

These Additional Terms accompany the [PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0](LICENSE)
under which Adieuu, LLC ("the licensor") makes this software available. They use
the same defined terms as that license: **you**, **your licenses**, **use**, and
**the software**.

## In plain terms

This summary is for orientation only and does not change the terms below. You may
run, study, change, and share this software for noncommercial purposes, as
PolyForm allows. What you may not do is ship a client that removes Adieuu Global
from the instance list, that sits between users and Adieuu Global, that strips the
warnings telling users a server is self-hosted, or that harvests and redistributes
data from Adieuu Global. Run your own instance freely. Do not tamper with ours, and
do not pass off a modified build as the real thing.

## How these terms fit with the license

1. Accepting these Additional Terms is a condition of your licenses, in the same
way as PolyForm's own "Acceptance" section. If you do not accept them, you have
   no license to the software.
2. They add conditions. They do not grant any right PolyForm withholds, and they
do not limit rights the law gives you regardless of contract, including the
fair-use rights PolyForm's "Fair Use" section preserves.
3. They govern the software. Using the hosted Adieuu service is governed
separately by the Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy,
which apply in addition to these terms.
4. Where PolyForm and these terms both speak to a subject, the more restrictive
   provision applies.

## Definitions

**Adieuu Global** is the hosted Adieuu service operated by the licensor, together
with the built-in instance entry in the software that points to it.

**Instance** is a deployment of the server software that a client can connect to.

**Instance List** is the set of instances a client offers for selection, including
its built-in entry, their labels and ordering, and the disclosures shown with them.

**Client** is any build of the software's user-facing applications — desktop, web,
or mobile — and any other program that connects to Adieuu Global on a user's behalf.

**Modified Client** is a Client built from changes or new works based on the
software, as permitted by PolyForm's "Changes and New Works License" section.

**Adieuu Global Data** is any data obtained from or through Adieuu Global,
including user content, account or alias identifiers, cryptographic keys and key
material, session credentials, and metadata.

**Adieuu Marks** are the Adieuu name, logos, icons, and other trademarks and trade
dress of the licensor. PolyForm grants no license to them, and neither do these
terms.

## 1. Adieuu Global stays available

In any Client you distribute:

1. Adieuu Global must appear in the Instance List, must be selectable, and must be
reachable through the ordinary sign-in flow.
2. It must not be removed, renamed, repointed at another deployment, hidden,
disabled, or made materially harder to choose than any other instance.
3. It must remain the fallback whenever no instance is selected or a selected
instance cannot be resolved. A Client may preselect its own instance, provided
Adieuu Global remains listed and selectable as above.
4. Removing, disabling, or routing around the code that enforces the above is a
breach of these terms even if the Instance List still looks intact.

Configuring a build's own endpoints for a deployment you operate is permitted, and
so is running such a build yourself. Distributing it to others is what carries the
obligations in this section.

## 2. Adieuu Global traffic and data are not yours to touch

You may not, in a Client you distribute or a service you operate:

1. Proxy, relay, redirect, intercept, inspect, rewrite, redistribute, or inject into requests to
   or responses from Adieuu Global.
2. Route Adieuu Global traffic through infrastructure other than the licensor's
   endpoints.
3. Weaken or bypass the isolation and transport protections the software applies
to instances, including per-instance sessions and key namespaces, Content
Security Policy, navigation allowlists, cookie-bridge allowlists, certificate
   validation, or update-feed pinning.
4. Capture, log, or transmit credentials, session cookies, or key material
belonging to an Adieuu Global user to any party other than Adieuu Global itself.
5. Present an Instance as Adieuu Global, or serve a discovery document that claims
   to describe Adieuu Global.

## 3. Adieuu Global Data

1. Do not collect, retain, transmit, publish, sell, or redistribute Adieuu Global
Data, except as necessary for the user's own use of a Client on their own device.
2. Do not bulk-collect, scrape, crawl, or enumerate Adieuu Global Data.
3. Do not use Adieuu Global Data to train models or to build datasets, profiles, or
   derived services.
4. Do not circumvent rate limits, access controls, moderation systems, or security
   mechanisms protecting Adieuu Global.

## 4. Disclosures about self-hosted instances stay intact

In any Client you distribute:

1. The disclosures identifying an instance as self-hosted and not operated by the
licensor must remain when an instance is added, in the Instance List, and at
each sign-in. They may not be removed, hidden, deferred, or made materially less
   prominent.
2. No instance other than Adieuu Global may be presented as operated by, endorsed
by, or affiliated with the licensor.
3. Disclosures may be translated or restyled, provided their meaning and prominence
   are preserved.

## 5. Modified Clients identify themselves

1. A Modified Client must clearly identify itself as unofficial and not operated or
endorsed by the licensor, both in its interface and wherever it is distributed.
2. Do not use the Adieuu Marks to name or brand a Modified Client, or in any way
that suggests affiliation or endorsement. Accurate nominative references, such
as stating that a Client is compatible with Adieuu, are permitted.
3. A Modified Client must not use the licensor's update feeds, release channels, or
signing identities, and must not present itself as an update to an official build.
4. Distribute these Additional Terms alongside the copies and notices PolyForm's
   "Notices" section already requires.

## 6. Security research

Nothing in these terms restricts good-faith security research conducted in line
with [SECURITY.md](SECURITY.md), including building, instrumenting, and analysing
Clients locally and testing instances you control. That allowance is conditioned on
not exfiltrating, retaining, or redistributing other users' Adieuu Global Data, and
on reporting findings through the process in that policy. Testing against Adieuu
Global itself remains subject to the scope stated there.

## 7. Written permission

The licensor may permit in writing anything these terms otherwise prohibit. Write
to legal@adieuu.com. Nothing is waived by silence.

## 8. Breach

These Additional Terms are conditions of your licenses, so PolyForm's "Violations"
section governs breach of them: notice, a 32-day window to come into full
compliance and correct past violations, and otherwise all your licenses end.
Remedies available to the licensor outside the license — under trademark law, the
Terms of Service, or otherwise — are unaffected.

## 9. General

1. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
2. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
3. The licensor may publish later versions of these Additional Terms. The version
distributed with a copy of the software governs that copy.
